Huautla is a strain of Magic Mushroom that belongs to the Psilocybe Cubensis family. Next to the Mexicana, Huautla is one of the most famous shrooms to come out of Mexico. Don’t let this mushroom fool you. It may be small in size but it packs a punch.

History of the Huautla Cubensis

This strain was one of the first mushrooms to be classified by R. Gordon Wasson in the famous LIFE Magazine article “Seeking the Magic Mushroom”. Because of this article, Psilocybin mushrooms gained popularity throughout Western cultures. Its name originates from the village of Huautla De Jiménez in Oaxaca, Mexico. This is where Wasson’s experience first took place.

In 1954 Gordon Wasson and Allan Richardson became the first Caucasians to participate in a mushroom ceremony, conducted under the guidance of Maria Sabina near the village of Huautla de Jimenez. Wasson and Richardson each consumed specimens of Psilocybe caerulescens var. mazatecorum.

Effects of the Huautla Cubensis

The Huaulta Cubensis is very deceiving because of its size. It may be small compared to other Cubensis but it is potent. At even one gram of this Magic Mushroom, you will experience intense body sensations. At high concentrations, users will experience hallucinations.
